Join us for a tour and lunch at the Kinze Manufacturing Plant and Innovation Center.
At the Innovation Center, you will be able to experience nearly 50 years of inspiration, imagination and hard work from one man and generations of dedicated hard-working Kinze employees, partners and friends. You will be able to trace the history of Kinze from its humble beginnings in Ladora, Iowa, at this new 25,000-square-foot complex that houses many of the original machines, design concepts and artifacts produced primarily by founder/inventor Jon Kinzenbaw. You will see Big Blue – the Kinze-built, twin-engine 640 horsepower tractor. The new Kinze theater is presenting The Kinze Story. You will see the first-ever adjustable-width 12-bottom plow, a replica of one of Jon's first pickup trucks, the very first Kinze Grain Cart, the Kinze-repowered tractor (John Deere 5020), one of the original 24-row rear fold planters, a tractor from Jon Kinzenbaw's personal antique tractor collection, a replica of the original Kinze Welding Shop, Innovation timelines (planters, carts, modern manufacturing, seed delivery), and displays of Kinze's newest products and innovations.Read more: EIR- Kinze Tour

We are going to have three stops: University of Iowa "National Advanced Driving Simulator", Lunch and a tour of the "Herbert Hoover Library and Museum". In order to keep the cost down we are going to car pool to the three locations.
The "National Advanced Driving Simulator" tour is typically one hour. The tour starts with a 10 to 15 minute presentation about the research and safety questions they work with at the facility. Sometimes participants are very interested in this discussion and it lasts up to 20 or 30 minutes. Then we will walk around the facility to view the simulators.
If the large simulator is not in use for a study, the tour walks through it and the control room, yet does not drive it. If it is in use we may not get to walk through it, but we would get to see it moving. So the trade off is walking through it or seeing it move, either way tour participants seem to find it interesting. They have other smaller simulators that tour participants can interact with. These are usually set up so everyone is standing around the simulator while one person drives. They often have time to let 5 or 6 people drive while others watch and ask questions. Who gets to drive the simulator will be chosen by lottery since they don't have time for everyone to drive.Read more: EIR - Three Stop Tour

The International rally is rapidly approaching and the parking crew is getting ready to put you in your place. Whether it's raining or blistering hot, they will be there to assist in safely parking your RV.
I remember being parked at the SESR a number of years ago. Three parkers were giving me contradictory directions at the same time. I stopped the RV, set the brake, and told the nearest parker I could only follow directions from one person. We then proceeded to park. I have not noticed this problem in the recent past.Read more: RV Parking Procedures And Directions
