No, we're not talking about the place with the curl on top. We're talking about DuQuoin, Illinois! Music, music, music is the theme for the 47th International HRRVC Rally. The dates for the Rally are July 18 through the 22, leaving on July 23. There will also be three days of early parking — July 15, 16 & 17. Everyone will have water and 30 amp electric. A honey-wagon will be available for a fee.

The spacious grounds are beautiful with lakes and rolling hills. DQ is a very friendly community. The people of the town look forward to events at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. Don't be surprised if the town's folk stop you on the street and ask where you are from! Once again, the people of DuQuoin are planning on welcoming us with their Shivaree one evening during the Rally. If you don't know what Shivaree is, that's another reason to come and find out what it is all about and enjoy the Rally! Plans are in progress to once again have the DuQuoin Ski Club perform one evening while HRRVC is on the grounds.

Volunteer! PDF Print E-mail

Volunteers?? Why volunteer at a Rally? Well, if it wasn’t for the volunteers the rallies would never get off the ground. At each National and International Rally there are numerous opportunities to help out. You can help with First Aid, Morning Hospitality, Member Information Center, Saloon, Ice Cream, Parking, Security or any of the Charities just to name a few. This is a great way to meet your fellow Ramblers and also make the events run even smoother. Another side effect is you will get more out of the event and have a sense of belonging. Be sure to check the Ramblings articles for notices from the chairmen on who to contact that would love to have your help. What you have to remember is – you get out of a rally what you put into it! So, step up, sign up and help out where ever and how ever you can!!

RV Parking Procedures And Directions PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 09 July 2010 15:58

The International rally is rapidly approaching and the parking crew is getting ready to put you in your place. Whether it's raining or blistering hot, they will be there to assist in safely parking your RV.

I remember being parked at the SESR a number of years ago. Three parkers were giving me contradictory directions at the same time. I stopped the RV, set the brake, and told the nearest parker I could only follow directions from one person. We then proceeded to park. I have not noticed this problem in the recent past.
