Amalia-Clare-Gmur

Amalia Clare Gmur lives in Oconomawoc, Wisconsin and is a daughter of Donna and Peter Gmur. Molly Gmur is a graduate of University Lake School in Hartland, WI. She is the granddaughter of Al and Kathy Morneault (86859) of Chapter 143 Middle Georgia Ramblers of Region III. This fall she will be attending Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. Currently, she is undecided for her major, but has an interest in physics. During her time at Rhodes, she will also be playing on their Varsity field hockey team. During each of her four years of high school, Molly participated on the field hockey, soccer, and basketball teams. Molly was active in student government and served as secretary for her junior and senior year. Along with those activities, she was a member of her school's service club, took multiple AP classes and was a member of the Spanish Honors Society. In her essay "The person or group that has made a positive impact upon your life" she wrote about her grandmother. "The day I was born, I received a personal gift, a gift that would take me years to realize the true significance. It was a simple square of intricately woven yarn, soft and warm in appearance. What started as a simple ball of yarn became a part of me. My grandma worked for months before my arrival knitting a baby blanket designed especially for me. It became like my shadow dragging behind me wherever I went. It could become anything I wanted it to be. A guardian to protect me: A veil when I wanted to believe in love. A shield when I felt powerful. A sense of comfort when I felt alone." Molly expresses great thankfulness for her friends and family who have supported her and is excited for the next four years.

Joshua-Caleb-Rhine

Joshua Caleb Rhine is a graduate of Grace Covenant Academy in Frisco, TX. Sponsored by his grandparents Pam and the late David Rhine (103956) members of Chapter 85 Chaparrals in Region VII. Joshua is looking forward to attending Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. As a student there, he plans to major in both Communications and Business. In high school, he was active in Band, Track, Basketball, and the school Tech Team. Joshua worked with the audio/visual team providing expert help and troubleshooting such tech issues at both the school and church. He looks forward to applying his energetic brand of industriousness to the communications field in the future, as a media specialist. Contained in one of his letters of recommendation is this: "I have watched him grow from a distracted, hyperactive kid, to one who takes on greater levels of responsibility within the school, learning to manage himself, and becoming a terrific school leader. He prides himself on being a good listener and drawing others out to participate. Josh's positive, can-do attitude and energy make him a pleasure to be around. He will be a refreshing addition to any student body that he's a member." Another writer states: "On a personal level, he is teachable, approachable, and respectful to adults. He also demonstrates a caring posture towards his peers and those younger than he. Of the many young men I've had the privilege to oversee in my 25 years in education, Joshua has been one the best examples of humble, influential leadership." In his essay Joshua reflects; "…my mom has made an enormous impact on my life. She has raised us with high standards and expectations. She calls us to be men who are intentional and diligent in the tasks before us. My mom has invested in me. Now, it is my turn to use her investment to continue my education and impact those who come after me."

Daniel-James-Seng

Daniel James SengDaniel is a graduate of William Henry Harrison High School in West Lafayette, Indiana. Daniel's parents are Jamie and Jason Seng. He is sponsored by his great grandparent Ralph Colliver (19976E) a member of Chapter 56 Happy Holiday Hoosiers in Region V. While at Harrison high school, Daniel was active in cross country, intramural basketball, track and field events. He is a member of the National Honor Society. Daniel also volunteered at the YMCA Camp Tecumseh in Leadership Training. He is looking forward to attending Purdue University and major in Engineering. At Purdue Daniel plans to achieve first a Bachelor's followed by a Master's degree in Civil Engineering. While there, he also has the goal of having a minor in Management. An author of one of his recommendation's states; "…. in the AP Physics Daniel scored a 5 on the AP Physic exam, a score that only 7% of students who took the test achieved. He possesses a desire to learn and grow. This performance comes from a good balance of intellectual ability and dedication to doing his best. Daniel's hard work and dedication do not stop at the classroom. He has been a member of the Cross-Country team all four years. Outside of school Daniel has participated in 4H for eight years. He is an easy-going but is also a hard and faithful worker." "I was blown away by Daniel's maturity and thoughtfulness, especially as such a young man. He took directions very well and built on experiences daily. What impressed me most was not only Daniel's ability to do as he was instructed but to also see things that needed to be done and do them without being told to do so. This is very rare in young adults this day and age." stated another writer. Another states: "Daniel had the opportunity to take part in a service trip to the Missionaries of Charity Women and Child Shelter in Indianapolis. We had unique opportunity to pray, clean the three floors of the building and to talk with Sisters about their experiences. During his time on these service trips, he has developed a range of leadership skills. He is organized and caring, uses effective communication, and he is always positive, even when others around him are not. He is extremely dependable and follows through on his word."

Gentry-Lynn-Straub

Gentry Lynn Straub Gentry is a graduate of Croatan High School in Newport, NC. She is the daughter of Duane and Wanda Straub. Gentry is sponsored by grandparents Charlie and Mary Anne Tingen (83900) members Chapter 70 Trav'lin' Tarheels of Region III. Gentry makes the 4th grandchild to receive this award. Gentry plans to attend East Carolina University to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The goal is to become an RN and work in a trauma unit or as a traveling nurse while continuing her education toward becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Working toward making a positive impact on the healthcare needs of our community. While in school, Gentry earned honors for induction into the BETA Club, and Academic Achievement for maintaining a GPA of 4.0 or better. She is also a member of the National Technical Honor Society for achievement in Career & Technical Education (CTE). In her essay, "Who do you admire and made a positive influence" the answer was simple. "My grandmother is kind, thoughtful, caring, loving, appreciative, positive, supportive. Not many people get to have their grandparents live close by and get to spend quality time with them. But I am lucky enough to do that and value the time we share together. " Her high school principal writes, "As her soccer coach, if I had to choose one word to describe Gentry it would be driven. Gentry is extremely competitive, disciplined and committed. These qualities are what will make Gentry successful in further education. It is an incomplete view of who or what is a person and student – one who juggled multiple rigorous courses, along with being a four-year Varsity soccer player, a two-year JV volleyball team, two-year member of Varsity tennis team while maintained a strenuous schedule that demanded her time management skills." Another author comments: "She has been the recipient of academic achievement the first three years and is on pace to receive the four-year award. This is truly an honor and extremely difficult at our high school as the years have been interrupted by Hurricane Florence and Covid-19." Returning to her essay; "My grandmother has shown me life skills that I will cherish forever. Above all, she has taught me how to love, be kind, be knowledgeable and that time spent with family is most important and valuable."
