Holiday Rambler Recreational Vehicle Club (HRRVC) 2022 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
The HRRVC National Board of Directors and our Chief Operating Officer are pleased that you are planning to continue your education and that you are applying for an HRRVC Scholarship. These are a one year scholarship in the amount of $2,500.
As you complete your secondary education, you will have opportunities and choices in selecting institutions for continuing your educational growth and development: accredited vocational-technical schools, junior/community two-year colleges, and four-year colleges and universities. Regardless of the accredited institution you choose, you, as a student, will experience an excitement for learning and the opportunity to investigate hundreds of fascinating careers.
Higher education is a great investment of time, energy, and money. Please allow yourself every chance to succeed. You are initiating one of the first steps in your future educational success by investigating scholarship possibilities. We, the Directors and Staff, extend our sincere best wishes for your future success.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING AN HRRVC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
- The 2022 HRRVC Academic Scholarships are restricted to current academic year high school graduating students, who are currently enrolled at an accredited academic or vocational high school. Home schooled students are also eligible (see item #9 below).
- A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0, based on a 4.0 GPA, at the time of application is required for consideration.
- The applicant must be a first generation offspring, grandchild, or great grandchild by either blood, or adoption, of an active or emeritus HRRVC member. The sponsoring parent, grandparent, or great grandparent must have been a member, in good standing, of an HRRVC chapter for at least one year (i.e. joined prior to January 1, 2021). Emeritus National members need not currently belong to a chapter. The sponsoring parent, grandparent, or great grandparent may sponsor no more than two applicants per year.
- The Scholarship Judging Committee will base its decision on these areas:
- Academic achievement
- School activities
- Community Service
- HRRVC activities participation
- An essay (subject is listed in instruction #13)
- Three letters of recommendations
- The 2022 HRRVC Scholarship Awards will be presented at the HRRVC Eastern International Rally. Winners will be announced by June 2022.
- All completed HRRVC Scholarship Applications, including support materials, must be post-marked no later than March 1, 2022, and received by the HRRVC Scholarship Chair no later than March 10, 2022. Send by USPS, UPS, FedEx; Make use of tracking numbers by the carrier to confirm delivery..
- To receive this award, a student must also provide a Letter of Acceptance from a fully accredited school/institution that he/she plans to attend. The scholarship award ($2,500) will be paid directly to the Bursar's Office of that institution, upon receipt of a letter from that office stating that the student has matriculated there. The Letter of Acceptance must be received by the National Scholarship Chair by April 1, 2022.
- High school officials shall certify the applicant's academic achievement by submitting an Official High School Grade Transcript. You may use Parchment™ if your school is part of that program.
- Optional requirement: College Board test scores - AP, ACT or SAT. You may choose to submit one of those listed. Your choice.
- If Home Schooled, you must have a GPA certification from the Home Schooled Association, or a Standardized testing score sent in by your local High School or rely upon College Board scores.
- In completing the application, please provide your name, address, telephone, and e-mail address, your parent's name, address, and telephone; your sponsor's name, address, telephone, HRRVC membership number, Region number, Chapter name and number.
- The applicant shall submit three Letters of Recommendation from the five separate categories identified below: (Not more than two from the same category). Select those who can speak to your talents and ability to succeed.
- A community leader (minister, 4-H leader, Scout leader, volunteer coordinator, community theater director).
- A member of your School Staff (classroom teacher, administrator, guidance counselor, etc.)
- HRRVC chapter president or state manager
- A school extra-curricular activity director (band director, choir director, drama coach, athletic coach, after-school club advisor, etc.)
- An employer (past or present)
- The applicant shall write a 500-word essay (it should be type-written, double spaced) keeping in mind all rules and standards composition. This is a major item considered by our judges. The topic of your essay:
Think of a person or group that you admire and who has made positive influences upon your life. Share some of those qualities. Be as specific and descriptive as possible. Paint a clear portrait of that person or group, so the reader may have a full understanding of these qualities you so admire.
NOTE: You will be judged on content and composition.
- If you are judged a winner of an HRRVC Scholarship, please have available a 4 x 6 photo, for display on the HRRVC scholarship winner board at the International Rally in 2022 and HRRVC publications.
- The applicant is responsible for submitting the entire application package:
- Application Form (pages 3 - 5)
- Official High School Grade Transcript
- 500-word essay
- 3 Letters of Reference
- Optional - College Board Scores - One of the following - AP, SAT, ACT
